SUMMARY:WEBINAR: UNLOCKING THE SAFETY LEADER WITHIN Transforming 6 Leadership Styles for a Safer Workplace
DESCRIPTION:Join us Tuesday\, September 16\, 2025\, for a free webinar titled “UNLOCKING THE SAFETY LEADER WITHIN: Transforming 6 Leadership Styles for a Safer Workplace.” In this webinar\, you will learn about 6 common safety leadership styles – their strengths\, blind spots\, and ways they can be coached to improve workplace safety and culture. \nInformation about the Unlocking the Safety Leader Within Webinar\nStrong\, safe workplaces are the result of more than rules and training. They are shaped by leaders who are trustworthy\, accountable\, and recognize the role they play in fostering safety culture. \nIn this webinar\, Mike Mangan and Rebecca Timmins\, will discuss 6 common leadership styles in detail\, highlighting where each is strong\, illustrating where they may have blind spots\, and sharing how they can become stronger safety leaders. \n\nThe Rookie: The fresh eyes and recent training of a Rookie can be a strength\, but they often lack the supervisory experience to be a strong\, consistent safety leader.\nLiving Legend: The Living Legend tends to be overconfident and may be perceived as arrogant and self-important. They’re challenged with listening to their team and learning from them.\nLeave Me To My Spreadsheets: This individual is analytical and detail-oriented but often struggles with interpersonal relationships that fall outside of their number-driven comfort zone.\nKiss Up / Kick Down: These leaders tend to be ambitious\, have strong communication skills\, and are adept at spin control\, often to the detriment of their team.\nKiss Down / Cover Up: This leader is characterized by the bond they have with their team\, often creating an “us against them” dynamic. They may struggle to remain objective when organizational and team interests are at odds.\nProduction Pro: These leaders are adept at operations and know what it takes for the organization to be financially successful\, but can be too willing to look the other way on safety if it’s perceived to threaten other business outcomes..\n\nRecognize yourself or your supervisor in any of these personas? Register the webinar to learn the feedback and support each type of leader needs to be an effective safety advocate and builder of safety culture. \n\nUNLOCKING THE SAFETY LEADER WITHIN: \nTransforming 6 Leadership Styles for a Safer Workplace \nTuesday\, September 16\, 2025\n11:00-noon Eastern Time\n\nNotes to Participants of Unlocking the Safety Leader Within Webinar\nMike and Rebecca will answer participant questions at the end of his presentation. Please feel free to submit any questions you have when you register. \nPlease Note: This event is specifically designed for safety leaders who are working to eliminate Serious Injuries and Fatalities within their organizations. SUMMARY:WEBINAR - Involving and Engaging Contractors in SIF Prevention
DESCRIPTION:Join Thomas Meier and Rebecca Timmins for an essential webinar on strengthening Prevention of Serious Incidents and Fatalities (SIF) in environments where contractors and subcontractors perform a substantial portion of the work. \n \nAcross construction\, capital projects\, industrial operations\, and mining\, organisations rely heavily on contractors. Yet these contracting companies often operate with different safety standards\, in unfamiliar environments\, and in high-risk tasks they do not fully control. This combination places contractors in a uniquely vulnerable position — and\, as a result\, many organisations experience a disproportionate number of serious incidents and fatalities involving third-party workers. \nAt Krause Bell Group\, we are committed to reducing serious injuries and fatalities by improving how organisations function. Many leaders ask us how they can meaningfully improve the safety performance of their contractors. This webinar provides clear\, practical answers. \nWhat we’ll explore: \n\nHow to better involve and engage contractors in SIF prevention.\nDrawing on our Safe-Decision-Making® Approach\, we’ll highlight where decision-makers in operations\, supply chain\, and the business unintentionally overlook critical safety considerations when engaging contractors.\nWhy biases\, business pressures\, and system design gaps undermine safety.\nWe’ll discuss how leaders often approve systems without fully understanding the safety impact\, and how incomplete implementation leads to inconsistent procedures and risk exposure.\nWhat effective Contractor Safety Management (CSM) looks like.\nA strong CSM system must embed safety into every stage of the contracting process — from tendering and contractor selection to oversight and execution.\nWhy relationships are the true force multiplier.\nBeyond systems and processes\, the quality of relationships influences third-party decision making and plays a pivotal role in preventing SIF events.\nHow the Krause Bell Group Safety Loop and SIF Reduction Mechanism can be scaled into contractor environments.\n\nThis session is designed for leaders in operations\, safety\, procurement\, and project management who want to strengthen contractor safety\, close system gaps\, and reduce exposure to serious harm. \nWe will answer participant questions at the end of the webinar. \nRegister here to join our webinar. \nPlease Note: This event is specifically designed for safety leaders who are working to eliminate Serious Injuries and Fatalities within their organizations. We respectfully request that independent consultants and employees of safety consulting firms not participate in this event.   \n

SUMMARY:WEBINAR: FROM ROOT CAUSE TO REAL CAUSE: What Lincoln Can Teach Us About Learning from Failure
DESCRIPTION:Join us February 11\, 2026\, for a complimentary webinar titled “FROM ROOT CAUSE TO REAL CAUSE: What Lincoln Can Teach Us About Learning from Failure.” In this webinar\, Alan Grant and Laura Harrison will shed light on typical shortcomings of investigation processes and share innovative\, insightful methods that reveal deeper systems issues influencing negative outcomes. \n \nWhen faced with poorly performing contracts and failing supply chains and during the Civil War\, Abraham Lincoln resisted the easy path of blame. Instead\, he focused on understanding and fixing the systems that produced failure. His approach offers timeless lessons for leaders today who want to strengthen organizational learning and safety performance. \nIn this webinar\, “FROM ROOT CAUSE TO REAL CAUSE: What Lincoln Can Teach Us About Learning from Failure”\, we will explore how Lincoln’s problem-solving mindset can reshape the way organizations investigate incidents and learns from failure. Drawing from decades of client experience and research\, we’ll examine why most investigations stop at the surface level and rarely uncover the deeper\, systemic causes that truly shape risk. You’ll learn how traditional processes often direct attention toward the workforce instead of examining the decisions and structures that create the conditions for failure. \nThrough an in-depth case study\, we’ll contrast a traditional investigation that missed key system drivers with a more robust method that revealed a network of influences evolving over time — ultimately culminating in a fatality. Together\, we’ll explore what a “real cause” looks like and how organizations can improve the value of their investigations. \nWe’ll close by returning to Lincoln’s legacy: his focus on diagnosing sources\, not symptoms\, to improve performance. Participants will leave with new insights into how incidents and injuries are often the downstream effects of interconnected decisions made long before the event itself\, and how to see and address those influences proactively. \nLaura and Alan will answer participant questions at the end of their presentation. Please feel free to submit any questions you have when you register. \nPlease Note: This event is specifically designed for safety leaders who are working to eliminate Serious Injuries and Fatalities within their organizations. We respectfully request that independent consultants and employees of safety consulting firms not participate in this event.

SUMMARY:WEBINAR - Why Do Safety Efforts Plateau — and What Can Leaders Do About It?
DESCRIPTION:Join Filip Coumans and Martin Dean to learn how to turn a stagnant safety loop into a self-reinforcing cycle of improvement — where leadership decisions\, organisational systems\, and safety culture align to deliver sustained results. \nMost organisations have good intentions when it comes to safety improvement. They invest in systems\, processes\, and initiatives designed to reduce risk and enhance performance. Yet many find themselves plateauing — improvement slows\, results fluctuate\, and progress feels hard to sustain. Why? Because the very mechanism that should drive continuous improvement is not functioning as intended. We call that mechanism the Safety Loop. \nThe Safety Loop describes how leadership decisions and practices create the systems\, context\, and culture that ultimately influence safety outcomes. When those connections are strong\, the loop becomes a powerful engine for learning and improvement. But when the arrows between the elements are weak\, misunderstood\, or misaligned\, the loop becomes stagnant. Leaders may continue making decisions\, but without a clear understanding of how those decisions shape systems and culture\, meaningful improvement stalls. \nIn this webinar\, we will explore what it takes to strengthen the Safety Loop so that it becomes a true cycle of learning and performance growth. Through real-world examples and practical insights\, we’ll examine: \n\nThe key elements of the Safety Loop and how they interact.\nWhy leadership understanding of system and culture creation is central to safety improvement.\nHow to diagnose where your organisation’s loop is functioning well — and where it is breaking down.\nPractical ways to reinforce the connections that drive continuous learning and performance.\n\n \nRegister here to join our webinar. \nPlease Note: This event is specifically designed for safety leaders who are working to eliminate Serious Injuries and Fatalities within their organizations. We respectfully request that independent consultants and employees of safety consulting firms not participate in this event.   \n

In this free webinar\, Mike Mangan\, Executive Consultant for Krause Bell Group\, will share his insights into how Safety Climate\, Upward Communication\, and Perceived Organizational Support shape a positive workplace safety culture. \n \nLast July\, we began our series on the attributes of effective safety cultures by talking about fairness and familiarity and the role supervisors play in fostering trust and meaning among team members. That webinar titled “Fairness and Familiarity: The Keys to Supervisor Success” can be viewed on YouTube. \nIn March\, Mike Mangan will continue the discussion by introducing three more attributes focused on safety and support. \n\nPerceived Organizational Support (POS) reflects the extent to which employees feel the organization cares about them and is invested in their success. High POS has been linked to proactive safety behaviors\, such as helping others work safely and going beyond minimum requirements. When employees believe their organization values their contributions and well-being\, they tend to react by increasing their own engagement and discretionary effort.\nUpward Communication (UC) A culture that encourages employees to raise concerns and share ideas without fear of reprisal is one that prevents accidents and improves systems. In SIF prevention\, this is critical: precursors like near misses\, faulty equipment\, or pressure to cut corners are often visible only at the front line. Strong upward communication ensures those signals reach leaders early enough to intervene before they escalate into life-altering events.\nSafety Climate (SC) Safety climate is the day-to-day perception of “how safety feels around here right now.” It reflects employees’ immediate impressions of how safety is valued and is highly responsive to changes in leadership\, policies\, or events. Unlike culture\, which can take years to shift\, leaders can influence safety climate almost instantly through their words and actions. Do leaders walk the talk? Is safety rewarded and reinforced? When safety climate is strong\, employees and leaders alike treat life-critical controls – such as energy isolation or fall protection – as non-negotiable\, even when production is at stake..\n\nIn this webinar\, we’ll break down these concepts into practical\, actionable strategies. Whether you’re coaching frontline leaders or just trying to be a better leader yourself\, this webinar will equip you with the tools to elevate your effectiveness and the effectiveness of those around you to drive meaningful safety outcomes. \nRegister to join us on Wednesday\, March 11\, 2026 from 11:00-noon. \nMike will answer participant questions at the end of his presentation. Please feel free to submit any questions you have when you register. If you have an immediate question you can contact Mike directly at mmangan@krausebellgroup.com to schedule an appointment. \nPlease Note: This event is specifically designed for safety leaders who are working to eliminate Serious Injuries and Fatalities within their organizations. We respectfully request that independent consultants and employees of safety consulting firms not participate in this event. \nREGISTER:  LINK

SUMMARY:WEBINAR - Is your BBS approach helping or hindering SIF improvement efforts?
DESCRIPTION:Join Filip Coumans and Martin Dean for this webinar around your BBS approach. \nDuring the 80’s and 90’s Dr Thomas Krause and his colleagues were at the forefront of applying behavioural sciences to the area of workplace safety. It was a global phenomenon helping thousands of organisations implement something that became known as Behaviour Based Safety (BBS) \nIn 2010\, dr. Thomas Krause led a groundbreaking study on Serious Injuries and Fatalities (SIFs). This study demonstrated that only a small subset of all accidents have the potential to result in a SIF event. This principle is by now often referenced as the triangle within the triangle. \nAdditionally\, we have learned that the precursors to SIFs differ significantly from those associated with minor incidents. With this realisation\, how does this impact the BBS approach? What lessons could be learnt and is there now a different role that BBS should take? \nAt Krause Bell Group we know that leaders often fail to fully grasp how their behaviours and decisions influence not just systems\, but also the surrounding context and organisational culture. They may not recognise how these systems\, contexts\, and cultures shape employee behaviours. Furthermore\, if their BBS approach fails to provide them with sufficient feedback on SIF exposures a gap will be created with informing their future decision. \nHow can we fix this and move a BBS process to be more effective in strategically reducing risks? How can we help leaders focus on what matters most? \nDuring this webinar we will discuss taking the four building blocks of BBS and applying them to specifically target the triangle within the triangle\, providing leaders the right data to help them prevent serious incidents. \n \nRegister here to join our webinar. \nPlease Note: This event is specifically designed for safety leaders who are working to eliminate Serious Injuries and Fatalities within their organizations.\nWe respectfully request that independent consultants and employees of safety consulting firms not participate in this event.   \n

SUMMARY:CONFERENCE: ASSP Safety26 Conference and Expo
DESCRIPTION:Tom Krause and Rebecca Timmins will present\, “Decision Analysis: Gaining Visibility into Potential Serious and Fatal Injuries” at the ASSP Safety 2026 conference on April 17th from 1:15-2:15 PM. Their session focuses on how an analysis of 365+ decisions from actual events demonstrates how organizational choices—not worker error—interact over time to reveal a network of interdependent decisions that create serious exposure. \n \nPresentation Content Summary\nTraditional incident investigations over-index on proximate causes—worker actions\, rule violations—and on management system gaps such as policies\, procedures\, training\, and oversight. \nThis session introduces decision analysis\, a structured approach that maps decision pathways and analyzes key choices to expose risks that remain invisible in traditional methods. \nThe presentation shares longitudinal findings from 365+ incidents\, walks through case studies\, uses real stories to highlight the insights\, and introduces three intervention pathways to improve SIF prevention: \n\nRe-designing incident investigations to yield deeper systemic insight.\nCreating effective learning approaches to bring forward the voice of the worker.\nEmbedding forward-looking practices so leaders can anticipate and act on systemic exposures.\n\nAttendees will leave with examples of how hidden exposure can be surfaced and addressed. Decision analysis gives leaders—not just safety staff—a structured way to see how their choices\, priorities\, and trade-offs shape exposure. \nDetails about the ASSP Safety26 Conference and Expo\nDate: June 15-17\, 2026\nLocation: Anaheim Convention Center\, 800 W Katella Ave\, Anaheim\, CA\nRegistration Information: https://safety.assp.org/ \nDetails about the Presentation: “Decision Analysis: Gaining Visibility into Potential Serious and Fatal Injuries”\nPresented by: Tom Krause and Rebecca Timmins\nDate: June 17\, 2026\nTime: 1:15-2:15\nSession Number: Session #7065 \n

SUMMARY:WEBINAR - Safe Decision Making® framework
DESCRIPTION:Join Filip Coumans and Thomas Meier for this webinar around our Safe Decision Making® framework. \nIf you want to reduce Serious Injuries and Fatalities (SIF)\, you must look far beyond what workers “should have done differently.”\nMost organisations still focus heavily on frontline behaviour after an incident\, yet the data shows a very different story. Decisions made at every level of the organisation — from the front line to senior leadership — play a critical role in shaping exposure and influencing whether a serious incident occurs. \nIn a landmark study conducted with six multinational companies\, Krause Bell Group analysed 60 Serious Injury and Fatality events in depth. Across these cases\, we identified more than 600 decisions that contributed to the incidents. The findings challenge assumptions and provide a clear roadmap for prevention: \n\nOnly 33% of contributing decisions were made at the frontline.\nA full 67% were made at managerial or corporate levels — long before a worker ever encountered the hazard.\n\nThese decisions include how resources are allocated\, how priorities are communicated\, how production pressures are managed\, and how leaders weigh risks — often unconsciously — in day-to-day business trade-offs. Many leaders are unaware of the cumulative impact their choices have on exposure creation. \nTo prevent SIF events\, decision quality must improve at ALL levels of the organisation.\nThis webinar will explore what effective decision making looks like in practice\, why traditional incident reviews often miss critical organisational contributors\, and how leaders can better recognise the influence of cognitive biases\, competing priorities\, and systems design. \nWe’ll introduce the Safe-Decision-Making® framework and show how it helps leaders make more informed\, risk-aligned decisions that strengthen controls and reduce SIF exposure. \nWhether you are in operations\, EHS\, HR\, or senior leadership\, this session will clarify where your organisation’s real influence lies — and what actions you can take to meaningfully prevent Serious Injuries and Fatalities. \n \nRegister here to join our webinar. \nPlease Note: This event is specifically designed for safety leaders who are working to eliminate Serious Injuries and Fatalities within their organizations.\nWe respectfully request that independent consultants and employees of safety consulting firms not participate in this event.   \n
