Tony’s career spans over 30 years in the Manufacturing and Corporate segments of the oil and gas industry with Royal Dutch Shell. A qualified Chemical Engineer, he has performed a wide variety of technical, operational and leadership roles. These assignments have covered positions in The Hague (Netherlands), in Geelong and Clyde Refineries (Australia), Wood River (Illinois), Delaware City (Delaware), Martinez (California) and Bakersfield (California) Refineries in USA. He brings practical experience through hands-on leadership and delivery of safety performance improvements.
In his last role with Shell, Tony was Vice-President of Safety. In this global role, working across all business lines, he was responsible for:
- Safety Leadership and behavioural programs which provided line leadership with critical skills and insights on influencing others, own staff and contractors, to deliver continuous safety performance improvements.
- The corporate standards and programs that underpin delivering a safe work environment covering the key risk areas of Process Safety, Personnel Safety and Transportation Safety.
- Ownership for the content and delivery of training and development of over 3000 HSE professionals.
- Engaging with external organizations and associations to learn from others and contribute to cross industry improvement initiatives.
Prior to this appointment, Tony held the position of General Manager for Shell’s Clyde Refinery and Gore Bay Terminal (Sydney, Australia), and was a member of the Shell Australia Downstream Leadership team. His role involved leading a major business transformation which incorporated a significant turnaround in operational Safety performance.
A well-respected Leadership coach and trusted advisor, Tony works with leaders and cross-functional teams to leverage their strengths and better understand areas for potential development.

Tony has undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Chemical Engineering, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration. He is also a chartered member of the Institute of Chemical Engineers.
Tony is married to Sarina and has three adult children. He has a keen passion for ongoing personal development and continuous learning. Tony is an avid reader and enjoys travel, sports, and recreational activities that support his physical and mental fitness.
