Dr. Thomas Krause Discusses Safety Leadership and Safety Culture

In this video collage, Dr. Thomas Krause discusses a range of topics including safety leadership, safety culture, behavior, and emerging technologies.  It includes a conversation with Paul O’Neill in which Dr. Krause explains why the first thing a leader has to have in order to improve safety is a genuine, heartfelt commitment to the well-being of their employees. They really have to care about their safety on a personal level. They should not be doing it because somebody told them they should care. It shouldn’t be because the numbers will look better if they care. Their motivation should not be the possibility of a raise or promotion if their safety performance looks good. It should be because, in their heart of hearts, they genuinely care about the safety of their employees.
